Intestinal failure–associated liver disease

The aim of this review is to provide an update of the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and diagnosis of
intestinal failure-associated liver disease in adults as well as to present a clinical approach of the therapeutic strategies of intestinal failure-associated liver disease and present novel therapeutic targets.

Pathology plays a key role in interpreting liver biopsies, classifying the pattern of injury, grading the severity of injury, and evaluating for other possible causes.
